Dr Lynnette Turner – Dean of the Faculty of Education at Canterbury Christchurch University

Monday 11th November 2019 was an exciting milestone in the Epistemic Insight Initiative at Canterbury Christchurch University, as staff from the project gathered with colleagues from a range of Universities across England to meet at the Science Museum’s Academy, in London. The purpose of the meeting, was to facilitate discussion on how we might work together on the objectives of the initiative, with a specific focus on epistemic insight provision for trainee primary and secondary school teachers.

Keynote speech was given by lead researcher for LASAR and Epistemic Insight, Professor Berry Billingsley.

Attendees included colleagues from the Universities of Bedfordshire, St Mary’s (Twickenham), Leeds Trinity, Chester, Oxford, UCL, Middlesex, Leicester, Roehampton and Hull. We were also fortunate to be joined by representatives from the Templeton World Charity Foundation, Association for Science Education and Faraday Institute for Science and Religion.

It was a great opportunity to forge new working relationships as we move forward with the epistemic insight initiative, which you can read more about here. If you are a teacher in school and would like to join in with our research, or a University providing initial teacher training/SKITT etc, we would love to hear from you.
